Malang – East Java’s Highland Gem and Gateway to Bromo
Malang se trouve dans the central-southern part of East Java province, encircling the independent city of Malang. The region is a land of highland landscapes, volcanes, apple orchards and colonial-era settlements – and the southern gateway to Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park.

The southern entrance to Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park is accessible through Malang regency. Coban Rondo Waterfall (près de Pujon) is a popular natural site. Batu (neighbouring independent city) is a highland resort with apple orchards, Jatim Park amusement parks and Omah Kayu viewpoint. Singosari Temple (Candi Singosari) is a 13th-siècle Hindu-Buddhist temple ruin. The southern coast (Pantai Balekambang, Pantai Goa Cina) présente rocky and pittoresque plages on l'océan Indien coast.

Javanese culture and Dutch colonial heritage are defining. Historical reste of the Singosari and Majapahit kingdoms are found in la région. Cuisine is East Javanese: bakso Malang (meatball soup – Malang’s most famous dish), rawon, nasi pecel, and local Batu apples.
