Konawe Selatan – Moramo Waterfall and Aopa Watumohai National Park
Konawe Selatan se trouve dans the south-central part of Southeast Sulawesi province, south of Kendari. Its capital is Andoolo. The region is Southeast Sulawesi’s most popular nature destination thanks to Moramo Waterfall.
Attractions et activités
Moramo Waterfall (Air Terjun Moramo) is Southeast Sulawesi’s most famous natural wonder: 77 terraced cascades, of which seven are larger (5–10 metres high) and seventy smaller cascades alternate over limestone terraces. The western part of Aopa Watumohai National Park extends into Konawe Selatan: swamp savanna and forêt tropicale, habitat of the anoa and maleo bird. Pristine plages can be found le long de the southern coast.
Culture et cuisine
The Tolaki people form the majority of the population, supplemented by Bugis and transmigrant communities. The lulo dance and Tolaki wedding ceremonies are part of cultural life. Cuisine is Southeast Sulawesian: sinonggi sago, grilled fish, with local spiced sambals. Freshwater fish is également available près de Moramo.
