Kolaka Utara – Cacao Country and Waterfalls on the Northern Edge of Southeast Sulawesi
Kolaka Utara se trouve dans the north-western part of Southeast Sulawesi province, on the Bone Gulf coast. Its capital is Lasusua. The region is a cacao-growing highland, a mix of green hills and coastal areas.

Watunohu Waterfall is Kolaka Utara’s most spectaculaire natural attraction: water cascades down a rock face in the middle of forêt tropicale. Ranthéngin Hot Springs (Pemandian Air Panas Ranthéngin) are suitable for relaxation and natural bathing. White-sand plages on the Bone Gulf coast offer views of Sulawesi’s western shore. Culture et cuisine
The Tolaki and Bugis ethnic groups form the local population. Mekongga cultural traditions are alive: the lulo dance and traditionnel kaago-kaago ceremony. Cuisine is northern Kolaka-style: sinonggi sago with fish curry and local vegetables. Fresh sea fish can be bought directly depuis pêcheurs in coastal villages.
