Empat Lawang – Highland Coffee Plantations and Waterfalls in South Sumatra
Empat Lawang se trouve dans the highlands of South Sumatra province, on the eastern slopes of the Barisan montagne range. La capitale régionale est Tebing Tinggi. The cuisine is South Sumatran: pindang (sour fish broth), mie celor (egg noodle broth), and the café ritual (kopi tubruk – ground café steeped in hot water) are part of vie quotidienne.

Empat Lawang is a safe rural region. Drive carefully on highland roads – hairpin bends and slippery surfaces in rainy weather. Waterfall hikes are safer with a local guide. Medical care is basic; Lahat or Pagaralam (approx. 1–2 hours) has the près deest larger hospital.
