Sidenreng Rappang – Rice Granary of South Sulawesi
Sidenreng Rappang (Sidrap) se trouve dans la partie nord de South Sulawesi province, entre Lake Tempe and Lake Sidenreng. Its capital is Pangkajene. The region is one of South Sulawesi’s most important rice-producing areas, with fertile river valleys and economically significant silk weaving. It preserves the patrimoine culturel of the former Sidenreng and Rappang kingdoms.

Lake Sidenreng is a natural freshwater lake, an important birdwatching site for herons and migratory birds. The endless rizières offer picturesque views, particulièrement pendant harvest season. Traditional silk weaving workshops where local women hand-weave colourful Bugis silk. Historical memorial sites of the Rappang Kingdom.
Culture et cuisine
Bugis culture is defining, with strong Islamic influence. Traditional Bugis houses (rumah panggung) encore stand in villages. The cuisine is rich: nasu palekko (spicy eggplant), sokko (traditionnel sweet cake), pallubasa (spicy beef soup), fresh freshwater fish depuis the lake.
