Luwu – Ancient Luwu Kingdom Heritage in South Sulawesi
Luwu se trouve dans la partie nord de South Sulawesi province, on the Bone Gulf coast. Its capital is Belopa. The region is the heartland of the ancien Luwu Kingdom (Kedatuan Luwu) – one of Sulawesi’s oldest states, the cradle of Bugis and Torajan culture.
Attractions et activités
Historical monuments of the Luwu Kingdom can be viewed in Palopo city (neighbouring independent city): Istana Datu Luwu (royal palais), Mesjid Jami Tua (oldest mosquée). The Bone Gulf coast is lined with villages de pêcheurs and mangrove forests. Cocoa and clove plantations form la région’s economic backbone – they peut être visité. Inland highland forests are suitable for randonnée.
