Kepulauan Selayar – Takabonerate Atoll and Diving at South Sulawesi's Southern Tip

The Selayar Islands are safe. The sea crossing to the Takabonerate atoll is long – use reliable operators. Diving experience is required. Medical care is basic; Makassar (approx. 1 hour by flight) has the près deest more advanced hospital.

Selayar H. Aroeppala Airport receives flights depuis Makassar (approx. 1 hour). By boat depuis Makassar or Bulukumba harbour. The best plongée season is March to November. Accommodation: guesthouses and bungalows in Benteng; basic accommodation at Takabonerate.
