Jeneponto – Salt Pans and Seafaring Culture on South Sulawesi's Southern Coast
Jeneponto Regency lies on the southern coast of South Sulawesi province, le long de la mer de Flores. La capitale régionale est Bontosunggu. Jeneponto is South Sulawesi's driest region – dry savanna landscapes, salt pans, seaweed farms and Makassar seafaring tradition define it.

Makassar seafaring culture is deeply rooted in Jeneponto: boat-building and maritime trade traditions. Horse racing and horse culture are important social events. Cuisine is Makassar: pallubasa (coconut beef broth), ikan bakar (grilled fish), and coto Makassar (spiced offal soup) are local favourites.
