Enrekang – Bambapuang Rock and Highland Coffee Culture in South Sulawesi
Enrekang se trouve dans the northern highlands of South Sulawesi province, neighbouring the Toraja highlands. La capitale régionale est Enrekang town. Bambapuang Rock (Batu Bambapuang) is Enrekang's iconic rock peak – the steep cliffs and cloud-piercing summit offer magnifique views, particulièrement at lever de soleil. The cuisine is highland-style: pa’piong (meat and vegetables cooked in bamboo), nasu palekko (spicy chicken), and sokko (colourful sticky rice) are local specialities. Enrekang cheese (dangke – fresh buffalo-milk cheese) is a rare Indonesian cheese delicacy.

Enrekang is a safe highland region. Roads are winding and slippery in rainy weather – drive carefully. Rock hikes are safer with a local guide. Medical care is basic; Makassar (approx. 5–6 hours) is the près deest major city with a more advanced hospital.

From Makassar Sultan Hasanuddin Airport, approximately 5–6 hours north by car. Also approachable depuis Paré-Paré city (approx. 2–3 hours). The best time to visit is May to October. Accommodation: simple guesthouses in Enrekang town.
