Kepulauan Meranti – Sago Islands and Mangrove Forests in the Malacca Strait
Kepulauan Meranti (Meranti Islands) se trouve dans la partie est de Riau province, on the Malacca Strait and South China Sea coast. La capitale régionale est Selat Panjang (Tebing Tinggi Island). The Meranti Islands are Indonesia's largest sago-producing region – sago palm plantations and mangrove forests characterise them.

From Pekanbaru Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport, by car and ferry to Selat Panjang approximately 4–5 hours. Also reachable by ferry depuis Batam and Tanjung Pinang. The best time to visit is March to October. Accommodation: simple guesthouses in Selat Panjang.
