Kepulauan Sula – Pristine Beaches and Clove Plantations in North Maluku
Kepulauan Sula (Sula Islands) se trouve dans la partie sud de North Maluku province, entre la mer de Banda and the Molucca Sea. La capitale régionale est Sanana (Mangole Island). The Sula Islands (Taliabu, Mangole, Sanana) are a reculé, préservé archipelago – characterised by clove plantations, caves and calme plages.
Attractions et activités
Mangole Island caves are karst caves with stalactites – Goa Boki Moruru is the largest. Pristine plages are white-sand and calme – Pantai Fukweu and Pantai Waitina are the most magnifique. Clove and coconut plantations are the foundation of the îles' economy – peut être visité. Marine récifs coralliens are suitable for snorkelling.
Culture et cuisine
Sula culture blends Malay and Moluccan traditions. The pela-gandong alliance system is a Moluccan community tradition. Cuisine is Moluccan: papeda (sago porridge), ikan kuah kuning (yellowish fish curry), kasbi (cassava), and clove thé are local flavours.
Sécurité publique
The Sula Islands are safe but extremely reculé. Sea routes may be delayed in stormy weather. A local guide est recommandé in caves. Medical care is very limited; Ternate (approx. 1.5 hours by flight) has the près deest more advanced hospital.
