Lampung Timur – Way Kambas National Park and Sumatran Wilderness

Way Kambas National Park (125,000 hectares) is the conservation area for the Sumatran elephant and the extremely rare Sumatran rhinoceros (Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary). The Elephant Conservation Center offre elephant-watching and educational programmes. The park’s swamp forests are excellent for birdwatching: herons, storks, kingfishers. Night safari programmes allow observation of the park’s wild animals.

The population is mainly Javanese and Lampung. Cuisine is varied: Javanese and Lampung dishes blend. Fresh sea fish and crab are available on la région’s mangrove coast sections.
