Surakarta (Solo) – Cradle of Javanese Culture
Surakarta (commonly connu sous le nom de Solo) is an independent city in Central Java province, on the Solo River. The city is, le long deside Yogyakarta, the other great centre of Javanese culture and art, with two royal palaiss (Keraton Surakarta and Mangkunegaran). Batik, wayang kulit (shadow puppet) and gamelan traditions are most authentic here. Solo is one of Indonesia’s friendliest and most walkable cities.
