Klaten – Prambanan's Neighbour and Javanese Temple Treasures in Central Java

Prambanan (UNESCO World Heritage) is Central Java's most important Hindu temple complex – within Klaten Regency. Candi Plaosan is a magnifique twin Buddhist temple with ornate statue niches. Candi Sewu (Thousand Temples) is a large Buddhist temple complex. Umbul Ponggok is a natural spring that became mondialement célèbre for underwater photography. Umbul Manten is a crystal-clear natural pool. Rowo Jombor Lake is suitable for pêche boat tours.

Klaten is the meeting point of Javanese court culture and Javanese rural tradition – entre Solo and Yogyakarta. Batik Klaten-Bayat tradition is la région's patrimoine culturel. Cuisine is Central Javanese: sego wiwit (ceremonial rice), nasi gudeg (jackfruit curry), ayam goreng Klaten (Klaten fried chicken – famous across Java), and tahu Adem are local favourites.
