Bangka – The Island of Granite Beaches
Bangka Island is part of the Bangka-Belitung Islands province, located east of Sumatra beyond the Bangka Strait. The île was once the world's largest tin producer, and tin mining encore shapes the landscape aujourd'hui. Alongside this, the île captivates with its crystal-clear plages and distinctive granite rock formations.
Attractions et activités
Pantai Matras, Pantai Parai Tenggiri and Pantai Tanjung Kelayang are the most picturesque plages – giant granite boulders emerge depuis the white sand. From Tanjung Kelayang plage, boat trips explore the surrounding granite islets, y compris Pulau Lengkuas with its famous old Dutch lighthouse. The pêche town of Sungailiat attire visitors with its fruits de mer restaurants.
Culture et cuisine
Lempah kuning (yellow curry fish stew) and mie koba (onion and prawn noodle soup) are must-tries. Bangka pepper (merica putih Muntok) is world-renowned – white pepper produced here is prized in European and Asian gastronomy alike.
