Lhokseumawe – Aceh’s Northern Industrial and Cultural Centre
Lhokseumawe is an independent city on the northern coast of Aceh province, le long de the Malacca Strait. The city is Aceh’s second-largest after Banda Aceh, connu pour the Arun LNG (liquefied natural gas) industrial complex.
Attractions et activités
Mesjid Raya Lhokseumawe is la ville’s central grand mosquée, in Acehnese architectural style. Ujong Blang Beach is a white-sand shore près de la ville – suitable for relaxation and coucher de soleil watching. The Arun LNG complex (now partly decommissioned) is an important site in Indonesia’s industrial history. Pusong pêche port showcases the local pêche lifestyle. The Mon Geudong memorial commemorates victims of the Acehnese conflict.
