The duck and buffalo-farming wetlands (rawa) create a distinctive landscape – local farming can be observed. Amuntai Grand Mosque (Masjid Agung Amuntai) is built in Banjar architectural style. Banjar wetland culture is tied to the river: the jukung (traditional boat) is the everyday means of transport. Local handicrafts (rattan weaving, Banjar textiles) and madihin poetry are living traditions. 4. Diamond Mining and Martapura

Martapura is famous for diamond and gemstone processing. Local markets and workshops let you observe the processing. The Cempaka diamond mine is a unique attraction.

5. Banjar Culture

Banjar people's culture – traditional houses, sasirangan textiles, gastronomy – is the soul of South Kalimantan. Soto banjar and ketupat kandangan are local specialties.
