Lanny Jaya Regency lies within Highland Papua (Papua Pegunungan) province, in the western part of the Jayawijaya Range. Its capital is Tiom. The region is home to the Lani people, one of the most untouched areas of Papua’s mountain highlands.

Lanny Jaya is an isolated and hard-to-reach region. Travel only with a local guide. Weather can change quickly in the mountains. Healthcare is minimal; the nearest hospital is in Wamena.

To Tiom’s small airstrip by small aircraft from Jayapura or Wamena (limited flights, weather-dependent). The best time to visit is May to October. Accommodation: very limited – local hospitality in Tiom.
