Lamongan – Marine Park and Fishing Traditions in East Java
Lamongan Regency lies in the northern part of East Java province, on the Java Sea coast. Its capital is Lamongan city. The region is one of East Java’s most important fishing centres and a family tourism destination thanks to Bahari Lamongan.
Attractions and Activities
Wisata Bahari Lamongan (WBL) is East Java’s largest marine amusement park: slides, pools, marine aquarium and entertainment. Maharani Zoo and Goa (Maharani Zoo and Cave) is a zoo built within a natural limestone cave system. Drajat hot springs (Pemandian Air Panas Drajat) are natural warm pools in a green setting. The fishing port at Brondong in northern Lamongan is one of Java’s largest fish processing centres.
Culture and Cuisine
Lamongan is the centre of Javanese fishing culture: Soto Lamongan (chicken soup with koya spice powder) is famous across Indonesia. Tahu tek and tahu campur (tofu dishes) are local favourites. Wingko babat (coconut cake) is a popular snack.
