Banda Sakti is the central and most developed district of Lhokseumawe, Aceh's second most important city after Banda Aceh. The city's prominence stems from the massive Arun natural gas field and its associated LNG processing plant, which transformed Lhokseumawe from a quiet coastal town into an industrial city during the 1970s and 1980s.
