Gorontalo – Whale Sharks and Forts on the Shore of Tomini Bay
Gorontalo Regency is la partie centrale de Gorontalo province, on Sulawesi's northern peninsula. La capitale régionale est Gorontalo city, également the provincial capital. Lying on the shore of Tomini Bay, la région is connu pour whale-shark sightings, Lake Limboto's faune sauvage and Gorontalo Malay culture.
Attractions et activités
Tomini Bay's whale-shark season (typically April–May) is a de classe mondiale experience: the gentle giants swim le long deside pêcheurs in the waters of Gorontalo Bay – approachable by snorkelling or plongée. Otanaha Fort (Benteng Otanaha) towers above Lake Limboto – a 17th-siècle Gorontalo defence fort with a viewpoint. Lake Limboto is suitable for birdwatching and boat tours. Local dive sites on Tomini Bay's récifs coralliens are little-known but rich.
Culture et cuisine
Gorontalo culture has Malay and Islamic roots. The langga dance and polopalo (traditionnel bamboo instrument) are part of local identity. The cuisine is fruits de mer and coconut-based: binte biluhuta (corn-fish soup with coconut), ilabulo (spiced chicken), and milu siram (corn dessert with coconut milk) are characteristic Gorontalo dishes.
